Yankee Capts Grouper Giveaway
The Yankee Capts answer to the Government Fishing Regulations, updated 1/4/10.
The time has come to explain
some of the impending regulations that we will be dealing with starting
on February 1, 2010. Beginning February 1st, we will not be able to
keep any
shallow water grouper. Most
boats from
We have never really
been known as a grouper trip anyway, as the large mutton snapper
have been our bread and butter for 33 years. Grouper fishing is really
nothing more than a small by-catch for us. As always, we will
still target the quality fish you want and we will still
offer the high standard of excellent service that you have come to
expect from us. Remember, this applies to
only the
grouper and only in February and March. Other than
that, it will be business
as usual
for the Yankee Capts.
Considering the other regulations that are already in place that have
no current effect on us, and considering what other companies who don't
have our licensing have had to deal with in this already tough time, I
think a two month closure on only one type of fish (a fish that is not
our main target) is something that we can all agree isn't going to ruin
our traditions of fishing excellence in the Dry Tortugas.
So after some thinking as to
how we can make sure this new regulation has minimal effect on you I
have come up with this. For the
two months of the upcoming closures, set to effect the Yankee Capts
only in February and March of 2010. If you fish the Yankee Capts and
happen to catch a grouper, black, gag or scamp
(no
Goliaths!), ten pounds or bigger, I will give you a two day trip. You
heard that right. We can't keep grouper in February and March, so when
you are forced to release that fish back to its home, I, Captain Greg
will invite you back again this season, on me. This offer is only good
for a limited time. Free trip must be used on a trip this season and cannot
be used on stern positions or put towards any existing reservation.
Grouper must be weighed by me, or Capt. Matt and noted as being
more than ten pounds before release in order to qualify for a free trip.
I and the rest of the Yankee Capts crew thank you for your continued patronage and look forward to welcoming you aboard in 2010.
