November 22 2010

... my office news page says last updated October 5, but then the only thing in it is something from July. Time for some winter spice...

I don't know about you, but my stomach is already growling for those leftover turkey and stuffing sandwiches that inevitably happen this weekend! Another little something to look forward to this weekend is our much anticipated Thanksgiving Special, which has just a few coveted spots available. This year's trip is sure to be THE one to talk about, as we will be welcoming onboard a small crew from Florida Sportfishing Magazine, who will be stocked with hot give-aways like t-shirts, tackle samples, magazines, bonus prizes and a team photographer and writer to record every single fish tale all weekend. Every angler onboard will get a free subscription to Florida Sportfishing Magazine and what's more, Greg will be sponsoring a raffle onboard for a 30 Shimano Combo Torium and an 8 foot Tallus rod! Sounds like a trip NOT TO MISS!! Hope you have your tickets already! If not, click here! While you're on that page, check out all our other upcoming trips, including some 3-day marathons, our ever-popular 4-day Iron Man, and some terrific SPECIAL 3-day LIMITED LOADS, such as our "Last Chance to keep Grouper" trip at the end of January, or our "Deep Water Gulfs Wrecks" Limited Load. If you've been with us before, you know that those Limited Load trips fill up quickly. Just ask the 7 people who ended up on a waiting list for our November 11 weekend trip. Don't end up on a waiting list. Space still available on all 2011 trips, but this year, with the local competition fading off the grid, our rail spots won't last long.

The temps hit about 28 here last night, just bitter. Makes me think summer, or at least it makes me miss summer. Thinking about summer means thinking about the summer schedule, and I know a lot of New England anglers would agree that with me that the one thing on everyone's mind is the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank. Ya baby! Greg has been busy busy busy in the Keys, but FEAR NOT! He has been working diligently on the 2011 New England Schedule, complete with all the trips you know and love and a few twists you might not expect. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A PRIVATE CHARTER IN NEW ENGLAND!!!! NOW IS THE TIME TO CALL ME! Last summer we stacked the trips in back to back to back and there were a couple groups that waited too long to get a charter booked and we really had no space left to squeeze you in. NOW IS THE TIME TO PUT THIS TOGETHER! Gather your family round the turkey this week and tell them to pull it together and commit so that you can call and book!

While we are on the topic, it is NOT TOO LATE TO book an ULTRA LIMITED LOAD Private charter in the Keys! If you haven't heard of this phenomenon, you are in for a treat. Grab 6-12 buddies who love to fish, decided on 2 or 3 days, departing on a Monday (ish) at noon. Trips start at $600 a person meal plans start at $25/person/day. Lock in the Yankee Capts for a completely private, wide open experience for the most fun you can have on the water this winter. I dare you to book! Click here for a list of the dates still available, but do NOT delay, we ran out of dates last season.

More than 1500 of you have linked to us on Facebook, and we applaud your power to get our name out there via the most extensive and amazing networking tool available online. I get probably 50 new friend requests a week and I know this is helping us build a name that will resonate in the fishing community both in the Keys and up north. If you're not a friend or a fan yet, find us and link up!! Many of you must have noticed that last week I used our massive Facebook fanbase to boost a fantastic cause. The Yankee Capts is a company built on good old fashioned American values, and as such we are proud to support and honor our terrific American soldiers, both here at home and overseas. The Wounded Warriors Project is an amazing foundation that brings are soldiers home and helps them heal from both the physical and emotional traumas of war. These Veterans have stood up for us with their lives, a feat that each and every one of us should be proud of and tremendously grateful for. It is only right that we, as a country, should stand up for them in any way we can. My brother, Will, and his pal, Mike, have found an enviable and admirable way to do just that. They have teamed up with the Wounded Warriors Project and come up with an endeavor to support them that only the truly strong-of-heart could accomplish. On March 1st, 2011, Will and Mike will step onto their specially-crafted stand-up paddle-boards near the Southern Most Point in Key West and set forth on a journey you have to hear to believe. They will be PADDLING to New England. Nope, I'm not kidding. To Portland, ME, to be exact. They are talking with a few personal sponsors to help back their trek, as well as collecting donations to directly benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. This has got to be the most extreme "Stand up for what you believe in" cause that many of you have ever heard of, but as my brother said to me, we ALL need to "stand up for those that have given their lives to stand up for us." They have set up a website and a blog to detail their journey. PLEASE check out their website, www.supthecoast.com for more information, a little history of each of these incredible guys, and to follow the link to The Wounded Warriors Project., We urge you to give any amount you can to support our American Troops and honor our wounded Vets, to provide for their safe and healthy return home. Its an amazing thing they do and have done for our country, so let's help use this amazing adventure to give back to them. If you want to do more to help, please contact me, or visit www.supthecoast.com and you can contact Will or Mike directly.
